Kohl’s opens its 55th Ohio location with a clean and colorful new look
Kohl’s became the first retailer last week to open in the new $475 million Rivers Crossing development in South Lebanon, Ohio. It is the Menomonee Falls, Wis.-based retailer’s 55th store in the buckeye state.
Moving away from its traditional stone façade, the department store retailer’s new freestanding location layers textures and shades of tan with two structural arches over the entryways. Large windows feature holiday displays and oversized graphics.
Inside, Kohl’s has taken a more upscale approach to its sales floor. There’s modern steel-colored signage, softer lighting housed in hip fixtures and bright colors to denote different departments.
Product displays are visually exciting – a selection of men’s jeans hung coolly from steel wire and blenders were displayed high on warm chocolate wood shelves.
Kohl’s has also paid special attention to its fitting rooms. One area features a lounge-like setting with comfortable furniture, while another, near the junior’s department, features funky-patterned stools, soft blue walls and trendy light fixtures.
Mostly still in construction mode, the Rivers Crossing project will be done in phases and includes an 850,000-square-foot open-air upscale retail center overlooking a 20-acre lake, office space and 327 upscale town homes.
