Aldi Introduces New Features

Aldi Inc. (Essen, Germany) has introduced a variety of new features within its grocery stores, including broadening the number of payment options customers can use, refreshing store design, and removing certain ingredients (such as hydrogenated oils and synthetic colors) from its Aldi-brand products.

Last week, it started accepting credit cards as payment in its grocery stores. Previously, the chain accepted select debit card payments, in addition to cash, SNAP and EBT cards, reports Star Tribune.

It also has removed monosodium glutamate, or MSG, synthetic colors and partly hydrogenated oils from its store-brand foods. It also is rolling out new store designs that feature higher ceilings, LED lighting, more windows and larger shopping areas for produce and meat.
