Artcraft Collection wanted an eye-catching setting for the one-of-a-kind art, home furnishings and furniture available at the store. Owners Jay and Sharyn Winer and son Adam worked with designers to create a wall and ceiling system that is as much functional as it is artistic.

Inside the 5200-square-foot store, green, hour glass-shaped and yellow circular suspended panels hang from a metal-grid ceiling system. Below, jagged orange walls and an undulating purple backdrop provide a colorful setting for the products.

In one area, eight 3-foot diameter ceilings, hung at different heights, cantilever inward from the store windows using a drywall suspension system from USG Interiors (Chicago). The ceiling grid also had to be strategically placed to accommodate the stores' recessed halogen lights, sprinkler heads and air returns.

“This job fell into the category of complicated because of the ceilings,” says Jason Roach, project manager for Anning Johnson, which designed and constructed the intricate ceiling system.

On the sales floor, the colorful walls and artistic furniture set the stage for vignettes of artistic wares from more than 450 artisans.

“The store has a wow factor,” says Jay Winer. “There isn't anybody who walks inside the store that doesn't have this incredible reaction to the merchandise.”
