Posted May 6, 2009

Gap Inc. (San Francisco) has appointed company veteran Julie Rosen as senior vp, merchandising for its Banana Republic brand. Before leaving in 2006, Rosen spent 15 years at the apparel retailer in a variety of merchandising roles, including head of merchandising for the Gap brand. She most recently worked as an apparel retail consultant.

At Banana Republic, she will be responsible for product merchandising for men, women and accessories and managing licensing relationships with vendors. Rosen will report to Banana Republic president Jack Calhoun.

The more upscale of all Gap Inc.’s chain, Banana Republic has struggled recently as shoppers have shunned its higher prices during the recession.
