Bass Pro Shops to Buy Cabela’s

Bass Pro Shops (Springfield, Mont.) has announced it will acquire Cabela’s (Sidney, Neb.).

Cabela’s currently has 99 stores while Bass Pro Shops has 99, reports Chain Store Age. The acquisition means Bass Pro will nearly double its store count.

“Today’s announcement marks an exceptional opportunity to bring together three special companies with an abiding love for the outdoors and a passion for serving sportsmen and sportswomen,” said Bass Pro Shops CEO Johnny Morris. “The story of each of these companies could only have happened in America, made possible by our uniquely American free enterprise system.”
