Best Buy Europe, the electronics and mobile retail joint venture between U.K.-based Carphone Warehouse Group PLC and U.S. giant Best Buy Co. Inc., has promoted Andrew Harrison to chief executive. He replaces Scott Wheway, the former head of Carphone Warehouse's European business, who will remain with the joint venture as an advisor until the summer.

“This move has been planned for some time and is part of our overall strategy of integrating the Best Buy and Carphone Warehouse teams to create Europe's leading consumer electronics retailer," says Brian Dunn, ceo, Best Buy and chair of the Best Buy Europe joint venture board.

Best Buy Europe has opened six Big Box branded large format electronics stores in the U.K. The joint venture also includes Carphone Warehouse stores across the U.K. and Europe.
