New stores integrate local accents into design
Best Buy is forging ahead with its growth plans. The consumer electronics giant recently added eight new stores, including the 30,000-square-foot Best Buy which debuted May 16 in Chicago’s John Hancock Center.
More than just another flag on the map, the Hancock Center location showcases a new design direction that incorporates sense of place murals and elements that reflect its posh surroundings on the Magnificent Mile. A concierge stationed near the entrance will be able to help customers with tips on what to do and where to go in the city, as well as what’s hot in home entertainment. The goal, says store manager Monica Salamon, is create the feel of a local shop rather than a national chain.
