HIRINGS/PROMOTIONS

Big Lots (Columbus, Ohio), the broadline closeout value retailer, has announced the following promotions: Lisa Bachmann to executive vp, supply chain management, and chief information officer; Joe Cooper to executive vp, chief financial officer; Charles Haubiel II to executive vp, legal and real estate; and Steven Smart to senior vp, general merchandise manager. The company also announced the retirement of Brad Waite, executive vp, human resources, loss prevention and risk management.

Sporting goods retailer Hibbett Sports Inc. (Birmingham, Ala), has promoted Mickey Newsome, the company’s chairman and ceo, to executive chairman. Jeffry Rosenthal, the company’s president and chief operating officer, has been promoted to president and ceo.

Target Corp. (Minneapolis) announced that John Stumpf, chairman, president and ceo of Wells Fargo & Co., has been appointed to its board of directors.

Laticrete, a manufacturer of systems for the installation of tile and stone, has promoted Kirby Davis to global accounts manager.

Häfele America Co. (Archdale, N.C.), which produces furniture hardware, cabinet hardware, architectural builders hardware and electronic locking systems, has named Morgan Clayton Bennett as its new territory sales manager for Alabama/West Atlanta.

The Talbots Inc. (Hingham, Mass.), announced the promotion of Lizanne Kindler to executive vp, general merchandise manager.

STORE OPENINGS

Mandee (Totowa, N.J.), the fast-fashion retail chain, recently opened a 6000-square-foot concept store at the Harlem Irving Plaza Mall in Chicago.

BUSINESS BRIEFS

Engineered Conversion Systems (Dalton, Ga.) announced that its EcoPath Sustainable Entryway Systems were selected among the Top Five Green Products for Retail and Business Interiors at the 2009 GreenBuild International Conference and Expo. Ecomii, a clearinghouse web site for “everything green and healthy,” selected EcoPath from 1800 exhibitors showcasing sustainable products at this year’s GreenBuild.

Masland Contract (Mobile, Ala.), a manufacturer of commercial broadloom and modular tile, has launched MaslandOnline.com.
