Fashion retailer reportedly ready to announce first Arizona store

Macy’s Inc. (Cincinnati) is reportedly ready to announce its first Bloomingdale's store in the state of Arizona.

According to The Arizona Republic, the fashion department store will open at CityNorth, a mixed-use development going up in north Phoenix.

The newspaper said Bloomingdale's won't say whether it has signed a lease “but industry sources say it's no secret that the retailer has struck a deal and that an announcement is forthcoming.” Related Urban Development LP (New York), CityNorth's co-developer, evidently broke the news earlier this year at a Las Vegas retail convention, using a 3-D model of CityNorth to show onlookers where Bloomingdale's would locate.

Nordstrom Inc. (Seattle) has already committed to CityNorth, a 5.5 million-square-foot development with shops, restaurants, residences and offices that is under construction at Loop 101 and 56th Street, next to a mega-shopping hub, Desert Ridge Marketplace.
