VM+SD magazine and parent company ST Media Group (Cincinnati) have announced that the second annual International Retail Design Conference (IRDC) will be held Sept. 18-20, 2002, in historic Pasadena, Calif.
The 2002 Conference is expected to feature Barneys New York creative director Simon Doonan among its speakers, along with sessions on the latest industry issues – including color trends for 2003, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), energy, security, environmentally friendly “green” design, worldwide retail and more.
IRDC debuted Oct. 28-31, 2001, at Disney's Contemporary Resort in Orlando. The Conference was presented in cooperation with the Institute of Store Planners (ISP) and sponsored by Martin Professional (Hollywood, Fla.).
This first-ever educational event for the retail design community drew attendees from well-known industry names such as American Girl Place, The Bata Shoe Organization, Cost Plus World Market, Cracker Barrel Restaurants and Old Country Stores, Godiva Chocolatier, Hallmark Cards, Harley-Davidson Motor Co., Publix Supermarkets, Inc., Shell Oil Co., Target Corp., Walt Disney Parks and Attractions and Things Remembered, among many other retail names. In addition to a full educational program, the 2001 conference also featured 22 industry suppliers in its Exhibit Hall.
“The VM+SD International Retail Design Conference represented an insightful and educational forum of industry leaders, while providing a great opportunity to network in an intimate environment,” said keynote speaker Tony Mancini, senior vice president of global retail store development, Walt Disney Imagineering/Walt Disney Parks and Resorts.
