Chico’s FAS Inc. (Fort Myers, Fla.), a specialty apparel retailer, has hired Rochelle Udell as senior vp, creative director, for the Chico’s brand, effective May 11. Udell’s career includes stints at the Arnell Group, Revlon Inc., Fairchild Internet and Conde Nast Publications Inc.
STORE OPENINGS:
IKEA (Delft, The Netherlands) a home furnishings retailer, will open a store Tampa, Fla., on May 6.
Sony Electronics Inc. (San Diego) has opened a Sony Style store at the Aventura Mall in Aventura, Fla.
DSW (Columbus, Ohio), a footwear retailer, will open a 17,000-square-foot store in Frederick, Md., on May 7.
Verizon Wireless (Basking Ridge, N.J.), a provider of wireless voice and data networking services, has opened a store at 2818 Broadway, New York, its 15th outlet in Manhattan.
BUSINESS BRIEFS:
Leggett & Platt (Chicago), a diversified manufacturer, has been awarded SA8000 certification, official recognition that the company is providing and maintaining an ethical and humane workplace for employees at its China fixtures facility. The certification is issued by Social Accountability International, a group created to promote human rights for workers around the world.
