Christian Dior Opens San Francisco Flagship

Store features luxe materials, fine art

Christian Dior (Paris) has opened a new flagship in San Francisco this week. Located in the city’s Union Square among other high-end retailers, the multilevel store was designed by architect Peter Marino.

The interior features luxe materials such as marble and glass, with the building’s historic exterior being encased in glass entirely to preserve its heritage and character, reports the San Francisco Chronicle. It is also decorated with a variety of fine art, many of the pieces being created by local artists. Among them is a Laurent Chauvat mirror, a mirror glass installation as well as a video art installation. The incorporation of all this art is meant to reflect the fact that the company’s founder was an artist before becoming a designer.
