Footwear company Clarks (Somerset, U.K.) announced that its chief executive Peter Bolliger will retire next year after seven years at the helm. Bolliger joined the company in 1994 and has been chief executive since 2002. Clarks, the biggest footwear retailer in the U.K., has appointed Egon Zender to look for a successor.
Clarks chairman Peter Davies says Bolliger has been key in modernizing Clarks and driving its international retail business. Since 1993, the company has grown from $1.5 million worldwide sales to $1.8 billion in January 2009. “This is a tremendous testament to Peter’s skill, professionalism and passion for the Clarks brand,” says Davies.
