Destination Maternity Corp. (Philadelphia) announced that Rebecca Matthias, the company’s president and chief creative officer, will retire at the end of its current fiscal year, ending September 30, 2010. During the transition, Matthias will continue to work full-time until June 15, 2010, then become part-time until her September 30 retirement.
She’ll work in an advisory capacity with the maternity apparel company through September 2012.

Matthias co-founded the company more than 25 years ago, taking it from its inception as a small catalog business to a global designer and retailer of maternity apparel.

“Rebecca’s service to the company and its stockholders has been invaluable and our company is a reflection of her dedication and entrepreneurial spirit,” says ceo and director Ed Krell. “I look forward to her continued contributions during the next year in her management capacity, and thereafter as an advisor."

Destination Maternity operates 1698 retail locations, including more than 700 stores in the U.S. and Canada under the names Motherhood Maternity, A Pea in the Pod and Destination Maternity. The company also holds license agreements with Kohl’s, Sears and Kmart stores and plans to expand internationally into exclusive store franchises in India and the Middle East.
