Dollar General (Goodlettsville, Tenn.) has announced that it purchased 41 former Walmart Express stores in 11 states.

Walmart announced in January that it would close its 102 Express format stores to focus more on its supercenters.

Dollar General plans to relocate 40 existing Dollar General stores — plus open one new store — to the new sites by October, according to USA Today. The new stores are about 12,000 square feet compared to the typical 9100-square-foot Dollar General store.
