Discounter’s same-store sales rise 6 percent
Family Dollar Stores Inc. announced sales tallied $1.99 billion for the fiscal second quarter, a rise of 8.7 percent from a year earlier. Same-store sales increased 6.4 percent.
The discount retailer attributed the success to strong sales of food and cleaning supplies, and has raised its fiscal-year outlook.
