Will open approximately 10 pop-ups for 2010 holiday season
FAO Schwarz (Wayne, N.J.) plans to unveil pop-up stores for the 2010 Christmas season in shopping locations throughout the country.
“FAO Schwarz has a long history of creating holiday memories for kids of all ages, and by opening these stores for the Christmas season, we are proud to introduce a whole new generation of kids to this beloved brand,” says Jerry Storch, chairman and ceo, Toys “R” Us Inc., which acquired the exclusive rights to operate the FAO Schwarz brand in May 2009. “These stores will offer a distinct collection of the exclusive toys and specialty brands found in our flagship store in New York City.”
The approximately 2500-square-foot locations will feature displays and in-store signage in rich shades of red, lending an element of distinction and holiday spirit to these seasonal shops. Pop-up stores have already opened at Tysons Galleria in McLean, Va., and The Mall at Chestnut Hill in Chestnut Hill, Mass. Additional locations are scheduled to open in Garden State Plaza in Paramus, N.J.; Aventura Mall in Aventura, Fla.; The Westchester in White Plains, N.Y.; Old Orchard in Skokie, Ill.; Oakbrook Center in Oak Brook, Ill.; and South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, Calif.
Parent company Toys “R” Us also plans a holiday store package, with 600 temporary Express stores expected in malls and shopping centers around the country for the 2010 holiday season.
