HIRINGS/PROMOTIONS

RadioShack Corp. (Fort Worth, Texas), a consumer electronics chain, has hired Sharon Stufflebeme as its senior vp and chief information officer. Stufflebeme was previously at 7-Eleven.

The Kroger Co. (Cincinnati), a supermarket chain, has promoted W. Rodney McMullen to president and chief operating officer. He replaces Don McGeorge, who is retiring.

MERGERS AND ACQUISITONS

The Finish Line Inc. (Indianapolis), a mall-based specialty retailer, has announced plans to sell its unprofitable Man Alive business for $7 million to Man Alive Acquisition LLC, an entity controlled by Jimmy Khezrie, owner and operator of Jimmy Jazz stores. The deal, which includes 75 retail stores operating under the Man Alive and Decibel names, is slated to close in early July.

AWARDS/HELPING OUT

Da-Lite Screen Co. (Warsaw, Ind.), a manufacturer of projection screens, received the NEC Best of InfoComm Award for its JKP Affinity Screens from NEC Display Solutions of America (Itasca, Ill.). Da-Lite donated the $25,000 prize from NEC to the InfoComm Education Foundation and agreed to match the gift.

Umdasch Shop-Concept (Osterreich, Austria) has been named “Shopfitter of the Year” for 2009 by Retail & Leisure Intl., an international publishing house.
