Fisher Finds New Pond

Veteran Bloomie's visual head, heads west

After 20 years in New York retail display – 17 of those spent in Bloomingdale's windows – Michael Fisher is shifting gears and coasts. Today Fisher announced that he was packing up the New York scene and moving to Cupertino, Calif., to begin work with Apple Computers.

While the former creative director is keeping details of the new post close to the vest, he did say he would be serving Apple in a “significant creative capacity.” When asked if he would be doing something that would still attract the attention of the visual industry, Fisher laughed and said, “I hope so!”

He is not the first prominent designer to secede from the small but prestigious New York retail design community. Tom Beebe left Paul Stuart late last year and signed on (earlier this month) as a creative director, for the Daily News Record, a Fairchild publication that covers the men's apparel industry.
