Management Changes:

sevencontinents (Toronto fixture and mannequin manufacturer and designer) has appointed Dan Evans as president. Evans previously worked for Met/Edron as executive vice president of sales, marketing, and design.

Mithun (Seattle retail design firm) has named Chris Dixon, Margarett Harrison and Brian Sullivan senior associates. The company also appointed Cathy Goldberg, Nick Hendrickson and Tyra Sorenson associates.

Custom Surroundings Inc. (Valley City, Ohio, fixture manufacturer) has hired Dave Churchill for the sales and marketing staff of the Green/Garden Center Industry. Churchill is responsible for introducing new fixture and merchandising ideas to the green industry.

American Eagle Outfitters Inc. (Warrendale, Pa., clothing retailer) has appointed Susan Miller to executive vice president-merchandising for the American Eagle Brand. Miller is responsible for overseeing the merchandising function for all categories of the brand. She joined American Eagle Outfitters in 1994.

Goody's Family Clothing Inc., (Knoxville, Tenn., clothing retailer) has hired Thomas Carey as senior vice president of marketing and advertising. Carey is responsible for the company's in-house marketing and advertising division and its outside agency, Hanft, Byrne and Raboy of New York. He most recently served as vice president of Sunglass Hut Intl.

The Bombay Co. Inc. (Fort Worth, Texas, home decor and furniture retailer) has announced the resignation of Carmie Mehrlander as chairman, president, ceo and director. The company has formed an interim executive committee under the chairmanship of Brian Priddy, executive vice president-operations.

The Musicland Group Inc. (Minneapolis audio and visual retailer) has added Ron Brunette as vice president of visual merchandising. Brunette's responsibilities include creating visual store designs and supporting and managing company-sponsored initiatives. He previously directed branding, marketing, and design projects at Medallion Associates of New York.

Horton Lees Brogden Lighting Design (New York architectural lighting design firm) has hired Brian Keefer as a designer in its Los Angeles office.

TIR Systems Ltd. (Vancouver lighting designer and manufacturer) has named Ken Piaggio to director of BP business to oversee the BP ChipStrip account. The company also promoted Robert Davies to vp, manufacturing and operations. Davies has been with TIR for 16 years and is responsible for the company's manufacturing and operational commitments.

New World Restaurant Group (Eatontown, N.J., restaurant operator) has extended its distribution contract with Marriott Distribution Services. Marriott will continue serving New World retail locations with frozen dough and other products until Dec. 1, 2002. In addition, New World signed a five-year contract with Willow Run Foods Inc. (Kirkwood, N.Y., custom distributor) to distribute products to 222 franchised, licensed and company-owned Manhattan Bagel and Einstein Bros. locations in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic markets.

Seaman Corp. (Wooster, Ohio, fabric manufacturer) has opened a new warehouse in Las Vegas to serve the western states.

Visual Marketing Associates Inc. (VMA, Dayton, Ohio branding firm) won two Awards of Excellence and will be featured in Global Corporate Identity's annual book showcasing the best new work in the U.S. and abroad. VMA's winning entries were for the Huffy Bicycle Co.'s Micro Hopper Pogo Stick graphic packaging and for VMA's new stationery.

Lightolier Inc. (Fall River, Mass., lighting product manufacturer) and The Lighting Research Center (lighting education and research center based at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute) have announced the winners of the Student Luminaire Design Competition. Students were challenged to design a product that integrated both daylighting and electric lighting in an interior building space. The winners are: first prize, Hillary Sanderlin, University of Bridgeport; second prize, Brian Fuller, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute; third prize, Ramon Torres, Rhode Island School of Design; honorable mentions: Hongyi Cai, University of Michigan, Betty Ng, Rhode Island School of Design, Feng Zhao, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Susan Teal, University of Cincinnati.
