Ten stores planning by 2014
Lingerie retailer Frederick’s of Hollywood is opening its first international location in Abu Dhabi, U.A.E. The store is located in the Emirati capital while another store is planned up the road in Dubai.
“Despite the outward conservative culture … this is a very fashion-conscious market,” Frederick’s chairman and ceo Thomas Lynch told The Washington Times. “They’re no less interested in what we have to offer.”
The retailer is partnering with Abu Dhabi-based Safeer Establishment to open the store. Plans call for 10 stores across the region in the next three years, says Lynch.
Fredericks joins a roster of other retailers that have opened in the country, including Crate and Barrel, American Eagle Outfitters, Aeropostale, Pottery Barn and Bloomingdale’s.
