For the first time, the 320 Gateway Country Stores will provide a selection of computer systems for shoppers to take home immediately. While supplies last, customers buying a standard Gateway PC with no customization features can get the product without waiting for delivery until 5 p.m. on Christmas Eve.

While customers generally prefer to buy a customized system, Cliff Holtz, senior vp of Gateway's consumer division said “We know that last-minute holiday shoppers will appreciate our making it easier to put a Gateway PC under the tree, in cases where a non-customized system meets the needs of the person receiving the gift.”

Through Wednesday, December 20, customers ordering most built-to-order Gateway via the company's 800 toll-free line or its web site will be guaranteed delivery in time for Christmas at Gateway's standard shipping and handling rates (or Gateway will refund shipping and handling). Gateway will accept orders on certain PC systems until noon, Saturday, December 23, with guaranteed overnight delivery on Christmas Eve. Additional shipping and handling charges apply and a limited selection of PCs will be available under this shipping option.
