Joins Fusion Specialties as part of equity firm’s retail visual merchandising market.
Fashion mannequin designer Goldsmith Inc. (New York) has been acquired by Blue Sage Capital (Austin, Texas), a private equity firm. Blue Sage also owns Fusion Specialties Inc. (Broomfield, Colo.), which it took a controlling interest in two years ago.
“With Fusion, we made a commitment to the visual merchandising industry and we plan to build on that,” says Jim McBride, founding partner of Blue Sage Capital. “This transaction will strengthen both the Goldsmith and Fusion brands by supporting them with sound financial backing and management expertise.”
Goldsmith entered the fashion mannequin market in 1927. “I am truly excited by this new partnership which strengthens our manufacturing capabilities and allows us to focus on our premier creative product development,” says Dan Evans, Goldsmith’s senior vp, creative, sales and marketing. Evans will join the new entity as senior executive.
“We look forward to a new chapter in our history, and to working alongside Fusion, to share expertise and together build on our broad offer to retailers,” he says.
Goldsmith will maintain its New York showroom, located on West 26th Street.
