Hands-on experience with instruments is key

Guitar Center (Westlake Village, Calif.) is overhauling many of its 268 bricks-and-mortar stores as a way to compete with e-commerce, reports Los Angeles Times. The company believes that by emphasizing the hands-on experience the store offers, business will benefit.

Customers who visit the stores can try out and experiment with a large assortment of instruments and equipment. The store has also started providing more in-house demos as well as providing on-site professional advice to provide a well-rounded experience for customers.

The remodeled stores feature more open layouts as well as larger areas for taking lessons. The company hopes these changes will make the retailer a one-stop shopping destination for music fans of all levels. Currently, it is the world’s largest musical instrument retailer.
