Halloween Spending Predictions

National Retail Federation (Washington, D.C.) has released the results of its annual Halloween Consumer Spending Survey, which was conducted by Prosper Inisghts & Analytics (Worthington, Ohio).

The survey found that more than 157 million Americans plan to celebrate Halloween this year, and the average person taking part will spend $74.34. Last year, the average consumer spent $77.52 on Halloween.

On average, consumers anticipate spending $27.33 on costumes for their families and $20.34 on holiday decorations for their home and yard. 93.7 percent of Halloween shoppers plan to purchase candy, and 33.5 percent expect to buy greeting cards for the holiday.

Total Halloween spending is expected to reach $6.9 billion this year.
