Unit marks 10th Manhattan location
New York has another Hennes & Mauritz store, located at 86th Street and Lexington Avenue. The 25,758-square-foot, two-level location, on the Upper East Side, welcomed the first 200 customers on opening day with an Access to Fashion Pass worth up to $300, an H&M T-shirt and an autographed image of Estelle's Fashion Against AIDS shirt for the retailer.
Earlier this month, the retailer reported April 2009 sales increased by 19 percent, compared to a year earlier. Same-store sales rose 8 percent, the first positive jump in 2009. For the fiscal year to date, sales are up 11 percent, while same store sales are down 1 percent. The company operates 1804 stores.
