Bloomingdale’s

Bloomingdale’s New York flagship decided to focus on the commonalities that people around the world share in a “The World Celebrates” themed holiday display. Eight countries were represented in the celebration, including Ireland, Russia, Sweden, Italy, the Netherlands and the U.S., as well as the celebrations of Kwanzaa and Chanukah.

“In light of the current climate of the world, we wanted to focus on all of the beliefs, ideas and experiences that we share,” says Harry Medina, Bloomingdale’s window director.

Each celebration was shared in a window framed by a circular valance. Hand-painted murals were used to create each background. Hand-carved figures mounted on turntables further brought the windows to life.
