VM+SD's worldwide tour of the season's best displays

Perhaps no other retailer is better known or respected year after year for its powerful attention to holiday window detail than New York’s Bergdorf Goodman.
In 2006, the luxury retailer’s seasonal interpretation, “The Art of Celebrating,” used each of its six windows to depict a single word about enjoying the holidays.
In “Decorate,” a brown and white palette and 5000 fake cookies set the tone for a banquet food fantasy where everything looked like gingerbread. "It's a tribute to professional and amateur cake decorators everywhere," says David Hoey, Bergdorf's senior director, visual merchandising.
Hoey's favorite, "Recollect," was inspired by a collection of old photographs found at a flea market. "We took it to the 'nth' degree," he says."
Everywhere passersby looked inside the window, they found a memory. "It's like a black-and-white photograph come to life," he says.
