James Thorpe Rejoins Dollar General

Moves into executive vp and cmo role

Dollar General Corp. (Goodlettsville, Tenn.) announced that James Thorpe will replace David D’Arezzo, the current chief merchandising officer who is leaving the company after 20 months in the role.

Retailing Today reports that Thorpe previously served as svp and general merchandise manager for Dollar General for six years, but retired in 2012. He is rejoining Dollar General as executive vp and cmo, effective immediately.

Thorpe’s long retail career also includes various positions at Sears Holdings (Hoffman Estates, Ill.) from 1991 to 2006.
