Kohl's (Menomonee Falls, Wis.) reported its third-quarter results, which included a 1 percent rise in comparable-store sales. This marks the retailer’s fourth consecutive quarter of positive same-store sales since last year, when they declined by 1.8 percent during Q3. The retailer’s total sales were also up by 1.2 percent at $4.43 billion.

Gross margins declined from 37.2 percent to 37.1 percent as selling, general and administrative expenses dropped from 25.1 percent to 24.8 percent.

Footwear and women’s clothing were the retailer’s best performing categories during Q3. Children’s, accessories and home categories performed below par.

The results came a year after the retailer announced it’s “greatness agenda” to revive business. The retailer intends to accelerate its growth rate through the next fiscal year as it roles out new initiatives and store concepts, reports Women’s Wear Daily.
