Limited, Abercrombie Report March Sales

Limited Brands’ sales up across all brands; Hollister sales drop


Limited Brands Inc. (Columbus, Ohio) announced its same-store sales rose 15 percent for the five weeks ended April 3, 2010 and net sales were $746.9 million, compared to net sales of $646.2 million last year. For the year, the company says comparable store sales rose 13 percent and net sales are $1.347 billion.

Limited Brands operates 2967 specialty stores through its Victoria's Secret, Pink, Bath & Body Works, C.O. Bigelow, La Senza, White Barn Candle Co. and Henri Bendel nameplates. Among those brands same-store sales rose 19 percent at Victoria’s Secret’s; up 3 percent at La Senza; Bath & Body Works up 12 percent; and Limited Brands, up 15 percent.

Specialty retailer Abercrombie & Fitch (New Albany, Ohio) reported its net sales rose 19 percent to $275.4 million for the five-week period ended April 3, 2010. March same-store sales grew 5 percent.

Breaking down its sales figures by brand, Abercrombie & Fitch same-store sales grew 10 percent; abercrombie kids were up 12 percent; while Hollister comparable sales dropped 1 percent. The Company operates 1098 stores, including 341 Abercrombie & Fitch stores, 204 abercrombie kids stores, 508 Hollister Co. stores and 16 Gilly Hicks stores in the U.S. Internationally, the Company has six Abercrombie & Fitch stores, four abercrombie kids stores and 19 Hollister Co. stores.
