Shelly Sabel’s soothing “Sunset on Deck” windows at the Polo Ralph Lauren flagship on Madison Avenue in New York took top honors in this year’s annual Lighting Services Inc/Gene Moore Award competition. Commented one of the judges: “I loved the way this window was framed by a soft beige color, the way it focused key light on the merchandise in blue and the way it used accents of colored light to depict a sunset.” Per the contest rules, Sabel illuminated the window with LSI products, including two circuit tracks with line voltage PAR46 lamps, low-voltage MR-16 lamps, low-voltage AR111 lamps and a variety of color filters.

Tiffany & Co.’s Adam Hayes, last year’s triple crown winner, took second place for his series of five “Valentines” windows at the jeweler’s Fifth Avenue flagship, as well as third place for his “Cityscapes” window at the same locale. The competition is named for Gene Moore, Tiffany’s longtime display executive.
