Milan-based Luxottica Group S.p.A. continues its growth push in Asia-Pacific with today’s announcement of agreements to launch its Sunglass Hut stores in The Philippines and expand the eyewear retail chain in South Africa.
Meera Enterprises Inc., a distribution and retail sports and lifestyle company, has initial plans to open eight Sunglass Hut stores in The Philippines before 2011. South Africa will see the rollout of 24 locations in Edgars department stores by the end of 2009, bringing Sunglass Hut's nationwide presence to 80.
“Expanding the Sunglass Hut business is part of Luxottica’s global growth strategy across all areas of our business. And, there remains great potential for Luxottica’s sun business in the Asia-Pacific region,” said Chris Beer, ceo , Luxottica, Asia Pacific & South Africa in a prepared statement.
