Partnering with Luxottica Group as exclusive department store for branded in-store locations
Macy's Inc. (Cincinnati) is partnering with Luxottica Group S.p.A. (Milan), a manufacturer and retailer of premium, luxury and sports eyewear, to open in-store Sunglass Hut departments in about 430 Macy's department stores in the U.S. Macy’s already operates 240 Sunglass Hut departments inside some stores. With the new agreement, that number grows to more than 650 locations.
The rollout will begin in spring 2010 and is expected to be completed within a year. Sunglass Hut, one of parent-company Luxottica’s retail arms, will be the exclusive operator of the p-o-s departments, while Macy's will be the exclusive U.S. department store with Sunglass Hut locations. “Sunglasses are an important fashion and functional accessory for our customers,” says Ron Klein, Macy's chief stores officer. “Going forward with Sunglass Hut, we will be able to offer a wider choice of styles, supported by the high level of service associated with Macy's.”
Sunglass Hut, one of the largest sunglass specialty retailers in the world, operates more than 2000 retail locations.
