The May Department Stores Co. (St. Louis) has reported a 20.6 percent increase in preliminary net sales for the five-week period ended July 2, 2005. Same-store sales increased 0.6 percent.

Net sales for the first five months of fiscal 2005 were up 15.4 percent. Same-store sales are down 3.3 percent.

During June, May’s Bridal Group opened one David’s Bridal store, in Nebraska.
