New Name For The Right Start

The toy retailer Right Start (King of Prussia, Pa.), which purchased FAO Schwarz (New York) earlier this year, has changed its corporate name to FAO Inc.

“The initials 'FAO'are known all over the world,” explained ceo Jerry Welch.

The company had purchased toy retail rival Zany Brainy in September 2001, and now operates more than 250 retail stores, including nearly 170 Zany Brainy stores (educational toys for kids ages 4 to 12); about 65 Right Start stores (developmental and care products for younger children); and some 20 FAO Schwarz specialty retail stores, including the FAO Schwarz flagship toy store in New York. Its headquarters will remain in King of Prussia.
