Will add new Rack store to area this fall
Nordstrom Inc. (Seattle) plans to close its Circle Centre store in downtown Indianapolis. The 216,000-square foot store, which opened in September 1995, will shutter its doors on July 31. The company will continue to operate a nearby location at The Fashion Mall at Keystone. The luxury fashion retailer also announced the opening a Nordstrom Rack store at the Shops at Rivers Edge in September.
"We've enjoyed serving our customers in downtown Indianapolis, but unfortunately our business has declined over the long term for some time and despite our efforts to turn things around we don't see the outlook significantly changing," says Erik Nordstrom, president of stores at Nordstrom.
The retailer operates 214 stores in 29 states, including 116 full-line stores, 95 Nordstrom Racks, two Jeffrey boutiques and one clearance store.
