Wal-Mart Canada opens five new stores

Wal-Mart Canada (Mississauga, Ont.) announces the opening of five new stores in the Quebec province cities of St. Constant, Valleyfield, Lasalle, Rosemere and Quebec City. These new stores represent a combined investment of $100 million by Wal-Mart in Quebec, bringing the total number of Wal-Marts in the province to 37.

The new stores in St. Constant and Valleyfield are the first Wal-Marts to open in those cities. The stores in Lasalle, Rosemere and Quebec City are relocations of existing Wal-Marts in those cities.

Established in 1994, Wal-Mart Canada has invested more than $440 million in Quebec over the past seven years through the construction of new stores in all regions of the province. The company employs more than 9,000 associates throughout Quebec and does business with more than 1,100 Quebec suppliers.
