Office Depot Taps Top Exec

Office Depot (Boca Raton, Fla.) has named Gerry Smith its new ceo.

Smith replaces Roland Smith who is retiring from the company. Currently Smith is executive vp and coo at Lenovo Group (Morrisville, N.C.), a $45 billion technology company, according to a press release.

According to Warren Bryant, Office Depot's lead director of the board of directors, and chair of its CEO Search Committee, Smith successfully led business units across Lenovo's product portfolio, "including an industry recognized suppy chain organization," he said in a statement.

Office Depot currently has 1800 retail stores in 59 countries.
