Opto Intl. Inc. (Western Springs, Ill.) announced that its president, Deborah Phelan, has passed away after a battle with cancer.

Graham Wood, Opto’s current chairman and former president, has stepped into that role again during the transition period.

Phelan joined the store fixture manufacturing company in 1984 as a designer. She was later charged with the responsibility of creating a marketing department and was subsequently appointed vp. Together with Wood and Robin Brower, she was responsible for developing the company’s iconic Options Collection fixture system. She was named president in 2006.
