Spending projected to increase this year

Parents who cut back-to-school spending during recent years will be increasing purchases this year, according to survey results from the National Retail Federation (NRF, Washington, D.C.). The association’s 2012 back-to-school survey found that spending for grade school children will average $688.62, up from $603.63 last year. Spending will be focused on clothing, accessories and electronics, with budget-conscious families hungry for deals, the NRF reports. The survey was conducted by BIGinsight (Worthington, Ohio).
