PAVE-ing the Road to the Future

Recent industry activities benefit students in New York

Eric Feigenbaum, chairman of the education committee for The Planning and Visual Education Committee (PAVE), announced the following PAVE-related activities in New York this month:Architectural Systems (New York), supplier of materials to the store design industry, opened its 25th Street showroom to his Interior Design Studio VII Mercantile Design class at the Fashion Institute of Technology. Co-owner Nancy Jackson conducted a tour of her showroom, presided over a question-and-answer session and supplied students with material samples.

Ignaz Gorischek, vp of visual planning and presentation at Neiman Marcus (Dallas) visited FIT's Mercantile Design class, reviewing students'work and conducting one-on-one advisory sessions; and James Mansour of Mansour Design (New York) served as a juror for the Mercantile Design class's final presentation (which was the design of the first floor of an existing Bloomingdale's store). Mansour also gave the class a tour of his SoHo studio.

At the Laboratory Institute of Merchandising (New York), where Feigenbaum is chairman of the visual merchandising department, Judy Bell, head of creativity and design at Target (Minneapolis), toured the LIM facility and agreed to conduct a seminar; and Suzanne Spooner of Nautica has signed on to address LIM students and faculty at an LIM program at the Donnell Library on 53rd Street in New York.
