The City by the Bay will host the 13th annual Lightfair International trade show and conference, the yearly congress on innovative lighting products and design ideas. More than 400 exhibitors and over 17,000 architects, engineers and lighting designers from around the world are expected to participate in the event, which takes place June 2 - June 5 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. Lightfair is sponsored by the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD) and the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IESNA).
In addition to the exhibit hall, Lightfair attendees can participate in a number of educational seminars and workshops, starting with pre-conference sessions on Sunday, June 2. This year's pre-conference topics include: Understanding Photometrics; LED Technology; Energy and Environment Codes and Issues; Retail Lighting Design Studio; and more. Conference seminars continue on Monday, June 3, through Wednesday, June 5. Five seminar tracks are offered concurrently: Energy, Technology and Codes; Sense and Sensibilities of Lighting; Design Environments; Exterior Lighting; and the Life of the Project: Design, Construction and Maintenance.
The trade show kicks off with the annual New Product Showcase and Awards presentation from 8 to 9:30 a.m. on Monday, June 3, in the Grand Ballroom of The Palace Hotel. The multi-media presentation honors exhibiting manufacturers'products introduced in the last 12 months. A jury of lighting professionals selects the Best New Product of the Year Award, along with Best of Category awards, the Technical Innovation Award, the Energy Award and the Design Excellence Award.
