The American Apparel and Footwear Association will honor the entire international retailing community for its “outstanding contribution to the national tragedy relief efforts” at its annual American Image Awards dinner in March, in New York. Tracy Mullin, president and ceo of the National Retail Federation, will accept the honor.

“During the weeks following the devastating attacks in New York City and Washington, D.C., many of the world's most renowned retailers responded selflessly to the needs of relief workers,” said AAFA president and ceo Kevin Burke. “We are honoring the retail community as a whole . . . for responding so quickly and effectively to the tragic situation resulting from the attacks.”

AAFA's honor traditionally has gone to an individual retailer and its ceo for outstanding performance and contributions to the industry.

“We are proud of the way our members — the international retailing community — responded to the urgent humanitarian need created by these horrible attacks,” Mullin said. “I am deeply honored to be able to represent these fine companies at this year's American Image Awards program, and to accept this special presentation on their behalf.”
