Same-store up 8 percent

Pleasanton, Calif.-based Ross Stores Inc. reports sales grew 13 percent to $747 million for the four weeks ended August 25, 2012. Comparable store sales for the month increased 8 percent.
For the seven months ended August 25, 2012, sales totaled $5.445 billion, a 13 percent increase over last year, while same-store sales were strong for the year, growing 8 percent.
"We are pleased with August same store sales that were ahead of our expectations,” says
Michael Balmuth, vice chairman and ceo. “Looking ahead, we continue to forecast same store sales gains of 2% to 3% for September and 3% to 4% for October."
