Samsonite Enters Luxury Travel Goods Market

Samsonite Intl. SA (Mansfield, Mass.) has purchased high-end luggage brand Hartmann (Lebanon, Tenn.) in a $35 million deal, according to Reuters. The world's largest luggage maker acquired the brand from private equity firm Clarion Capital Partners.

The more than 100-year-old Hartmann company sells its luxury products at retailers including Macy's and Bloomingdale's.
