Fast-casual bugger chain Smashburger (Denver) has signed an agreement with ISK Systems, owned by industry veteran Irwin Kruger, to operate 20 restaurants in Long Island, N.Y.
The deal with ISK Systems, LLC will establish Smashburger in the New York area and brings the number of signed franchise agreements to more than 375. Smashburger aims to have close to 100 restaurants in more than 16 states by the end of the year through a combination of corporate, franchise and joint venture partnerships.
“Entering into a critical and visible marketplace like New York City is a milestone for Smashburger,” says Smashburger ceo Dave Prokupek. “Irwin’s three-plus decades of experience operating McDonald’s restaurants in Manhattan and his innovative approach are perfect for establishing Smashburger in New York.”
Smashburger is owned by private equity and concept-development firm Consumer Capital Partners (Denver).
