NBBJ Retail Design (Seattle) has hired Sandie Pope and Toki Wolf as strategic and creative leaders of a new multidisciplinary studio.

The studio's new retail design program is called “Come to Your Senses,” in which the firm's clients interface with a team of graphic designers, interior designers, artists, industrial designers, media specialists, copywriters, behavioral psychologists, merchandisers and architects. “The idea,” says the firm, “is to capture the energy arising from a convergence of creative thought and channel it towards sensory-rich, identity-building environments.”

Pope, the new strategic director for NBBJ Retail Design, has worked as a fashion coordinator for department stores; owned and operated her own fabric store, and worked as a brand strategist for major retailers including Gap, Harrods, Seibu Department Stores, Nike, LL Bean, Nordstrom and Kinkos.

Wolf will be the studio's creative director. He was trained as a graphic designer, and his career over the past 12 years has included image, product and environment design. He participated in the establishment of Nike's retail component, providing creative direction, concept development and brand marketing. As a part of this process, he directed groups of designers.

Over the past 15 years, NBBJ Retail Design has completed 700 stores and 2,700,000 square feet of retail space, through its six offices in the United States: Seattle, New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Columbus and Raleigh.
