Tanger Factory Outlet Centers Inc. (Greensboro, N.C.) plans to build, manage and own a 312,000-square-foot mall at Foxwoods in Mashantucket, Conn., Women’s Wear Daily reports. The center will be called Tanger Outlet at Foxwoods and is expected to open by the end of 2013.
The Foxwoods casino complex, which has undergone trouble for excessive borrowing and spending and is currently restructuring debt of about $2.3 billion, attracts about 16 million visitors each year.
“Foxwoods is an opportunity to connect with one of the highest and most popular resort casinos in the world,” Steven Tanger, president and ceo, Tanger Factory Outlet Centers, told WWD. “It’s a combination of entertainment for the nongambling spouse and providing a great family opportunity to have some fun.”
