Target Hires New Logistics Evp

Takes on Amazon veteran

Target Corp. (Minneapolis) is hiring a former Amazon.com Inc. (Seattle) vp to fill the evp, chief of supply chain and logistics role. Arthur Valdez, formerly vp of operations for Amazon, comes to Target after 16 years in service of the online giant.

Retailing Today reports that Target’s move is indicative of moves toward improving logistics in the company as well as a nod to the strength of Amazon’s processes.

Valdez will be responsible for transforming the supply chain’s planning, distribution and transportation. He will report to COO John Mulligan.
